NOR'EASTER UPDATE

Hey Folks,

Well, here's the latest with our system moving in tomorrow. I'm going to break this thing up into sections, Friday, Friday night & Saturday.

Here's the story

FRIDAY
Nov5-Friday.JPG
-Friday morning the Wet Snow will start to fall ALMOST everywhere across the Province.
-The only regions that will likely see more Rain then Snow through the day on Friday, will be the Southern half of the Avalon and the Burin Peninsula where 10-20 mm of rain and about 5-10 cm of Snow are expected.
-St. John's, The Northern Avalon, Clarenville and Bonavista will start with Snow on Friday with some rain mixing in the later afternoon. 10 cm.
-Gander, Terra Nova, Bonavista North, the Bay of Exploits, Grand Falls-Windsor, Buchans and the Interior and Green Bay-White Bay will all see Snow on Friday. About 10 cm through out the day on Friday.
-Ramea - Connaigre and Burgeo will be interesting. Areas inland like St. Alban's should see mostly Snow, although I think areas closer to the Coast like Harbour Breton will see a good mix of Rain as well.
-Port aux Basques, St. Georges, Corner Brook, Deer Lake-Humber Valley will all see Snow 5-10 cm.
-Gros Morne, Parson's Pond - Hawke's Bay afternoon Snow could reach 5 cm.
-Northern Peninsula, afternoon Snow 2 cm.

WINDS- By Friday morning the entire Island will be seeing a solid Easterly flow. The South Coast will see the first winds gusts of 70 to 100 km/h in the Morning. As we move into the afternoon the South Coast, Avalon Peninsula and the Northeast Coast will be seeing winds of 50-60 km/h with gusts to 70 or 90 km/h.

Friday NIGHT
Nov5-FriNight.JPG
-As we move into Friday evening and then into the Overnight, we're going to be seeing the Snow-Rain line slowly migrate to the Northwest as winds shift in from the South across Southeastern Newfoundland.
-Therefore, the Avalon, Clarenville, Bonavista and maybe even into the Terra Nova and Bonavista North areas will see the Wet Snow change over to Rain Showers on Friday afternoon into evening and into the overnight for areas further west.
-Gander and the Bay of Ex. will start to see some Rain showers mixing in with Wet Snow falling... but the Snow will still dominate.
-Looks like the Snow will continue to fall in Grand Falls-Windsor, Buchans and the interior, Deer Lake-Humber Valley and areas West and Southwest of that line through Corner Brook and down to Port aux Basques.
-It appears that, GFW, Bay of Ex., Gander, Green Bay-White Bay, Buchans and the interior and Inland Ramea-Connaigre will continue to see the bulk of the Snowfall on Friday night. Perhaps as much as 10-15 cm. That would bring your totals up to perhaps 20 or even 25 cm by Saturday morning.

WINDS- Will Slowly shift from Northeast to North overnight with gusts to 70-90 km/h pretty much everywhere across the Northern half of the Province.

SATURDAY
-Areas like the Avalon and Burin will continue to see showers on Saturday with some wet flurries mixing in through the afternoon hours.
-West of there, through the Bonavista, Terra Nova, Clarenville areas could start to see Wet Snow mixing back in with the Showers on Saturday morning.
-Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, the Bay of Exploits, Green Bay-White Bay will continue to see Snow in the morning tapering off to Flurries in the afternoon. Not before another couple cm's falls.
-Lingering flurries will fall through Western Newfoundland and up the Northern Peninsula on Saturday.

WINDS-Will shift in from the Northwest and continue to gust to 60-80 km/h in the Morning on Saturday across the entire Island. Winds will slowly start to ease from West to East throughout the day.

SO WITH ALL THAT SAID, HERE IS HOW MUCH SNOW WE COULD BE SEEING BY SATURDAY MORNING

Again, I'll be in here tomorrow... so I'll be able to provide Friday night and Saturday forecast updates tomorrow as things change.

Your Comments

Just wanted to say it's been a joy watching you on the news each night. My 21month old son, Evan waves and says hi every night when you come on. We are here on vac from Calgary visiting my parents in Mt.Pearl. You are the first person he has interacted with on TV and it's very funny to see. Thank you for the entertainment
