WINTER STORM WATCHES!

Hey Folks,

Tomorrow's system moving in is looking a bit stronger and a bit snowier than it did 24 hours ago. Rain, Wind and a good band of Snow on the backside of this thing up through Central Newfoundland is on the menu. The Canadian model is really starting to bite on the cooler air sliding in on the backside of this thing. I'll have much more on what to expect later this afternoon... for now here are a list of Warnings from Environment Canada.

WIND WARNING- Easterly Winds overnight and Saturday morning 60-80 km/h with gusts to 100 km/h
St. John's
Avalon North
Avalon South
Burin Peninsula
Clarenville
Terra Nova
Bonavista North
Bonavista Peninsula
Port aux Basques- Burgeo

WINTER STORM WATCH- Rain mixing in with up to 10 cm of Wet Snow in the higher elevations overnight through Saturday morning. However, if temperatures end up just a few degrees cooler than forecast, much more could fall.
Gander and vicinity
Green Bay-White Bay
Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity

SNOWFALL WARNING-Up to 15 or 20 cm of Wet Snow in the higher elevations overnight through Saturday morn.
Ramea- Connaigre
Buchans and the Interior

No doubt, the bulk of Snow will fall in Moose Country through Central Newfoundland. The further away from the Coast, the more Snow you'll see. Places like St. Alban's and Milltown and then up Highway 360 could see a good shot of Snow. As well, places like Buchans and Millertown and even into Grand Falls-Windsor could see a decent shot as well.

AFTERNOON UPDATE

Just taking a look at the afternoon forecast model run. It still looks like a good shot of Snow up through the Central region tonight/tomorrow.

-The model is putting the 20 cm + bulleye over no man's land in Central.
-However a solid 10-20 cm ring around it from St.Alban's and up the 360 to Grand Falls-Windsor.
-I think the actual town of Grand Falls-Windsor will be right on the 10 cm line. Gander falls in the 5-10 cm zone. AGAIN IF TEMPERATURE DIP JUST A BIT COOLER YOU COULD SEE MORE.
-Looks like 5-10 cm of wet snow is also possible to mix in through places like Badger, Buchans and up along the 410 on the Baie Verte Peninsula.
-Coastal communities around the Baie Verte Peninsula, Notre Dame Bay and the Bay of Exploits will see a mix of Rain and Snow however I think the warmer Ocean will keep your amounts below 5 cm.
-Up the West Coast through Stephenville, Corner Brook and Gros Morne could see 2-5 cm mixing with rain tonight and Saturday morning.
-It will be mostly rain with SOME wet Snow mixing through Terra Nova, Clarenville and Bonavista areas.

FULL DETAILS TONIGHT ON HERE & NOW.

Ryan

P.S. Sunday still looks Sunny but Cool across the entire Province.
