Watching 2 Systems...

Hey Folks,

How about this for a wake up in Western Labrador. A solid shot this morning indeed. It snowed in Labrador City from about Midnight to 7am where 3.2 cm fell! Now most of that melted as soon as it hit the ground, but still a good coating stuck around in most places.

WARMING UP AND CLEARING OUT
The good news for you folks Western Labrador is you're warming up and clearing out. In fact this afternoon you should it 8 degrees and by Thursday you're looking at sunshine and 16 degrees! So there's light and warmth at the end of the tunnel.

EAST LABRADOR WINDS
You folks in Eastern Labrador had a soaking shot of rain yesterday. 58 mm of rain fell in Happy Valley Goose Bay and Cartwright yesterday! Mary's Harbour topped out at 34 mm of rain. So a good decent shot for you folks. Today you're story is the wind. We have Winds Warnings in Effect from Nain to Batteau today where Gusts in from the Northwest will exceed 100 km/h. Cartwright has already been seeing gusts stronger than 80 km/h. You winds will slowly subside through the evening and overnight as this system heads towards Greenland.

2 SYSTEMS
I wanted to let you know, I'm watching 2 systems which are popping up on the forecast models.
The first one is a system which is actually sitting down in the Bahamas right now. It's going to track North over the next few days and could roll in on Friday into Saturday as nice juicy shot of wind and rain for Newfoundland. The second system could come in behind as a quick developer off the Coast of New England and Nova Scotia before heading North. Perhaps moving into Newfoundland on Sunday. Both systems have the potential to be soakers. However it remains to be seen whether or not they will actually make landfall.

-The American model has been keeping both systems off the Coast in most of it's runs. Perhaps bringing some light rain to the Avalon on Friday with system number one. It's showing the second system as a complete miss to the East of the Island.

-The Canadian model was showing 2 direct hits in it's morning runs. The latest afternoon run shows an Avalon grazing with the first system on Friday night and then a direct 50 mm+ hit for Eastern Newfoundland on Sunday with the second system.

I'm watching both systems closely and I'll keep you up to date as we march towards the weekend.

Your Comments

Ryan: can you tell me how much rain fell on Tuesday in the St. John's area? and where can I find the rainfall amounts on a daily basis?
