T.S. Erika & Looking Ahead

Hey Folks,

Well as expected the cluster of Storms moving through the Tropics has been named Tropical Storm Erika. Erika is far from a power house at this point, with sustained winds near 65 km/h and she isn't expected to grow much over the next 72 hours. The National Hurricane Centre is bringing the storm up towards the Bahamas, but as you can see there is still a fairly large spread on the Spaghetti models.

Either way Erika is moving really slow and so IF she happens to round the bend and head up into our direction it wouldn't be until late next week anyway. I'll keep an eye on her.

AUTUMN CHILL COMING

Yesterday and again to start today, it's been a little cooler for most of the Province. However, with winds switching in from the Southwest through out this afternoon, we're looking at temperatures back into the 20's for Thursday. However that warm up will be short-lived. After that, I'm tracking some real Autumn type air which is headed our way, just in time for the holiday weekend.

An Arctic High taking shape in the Northwest Territories today will really be the engine moving the Cold air... as it pushes across the Northern part of Canada over the next few days. It will start to sink Southeast on Friday and into Saturday and Sunday.

High's in behind the Cold boundary will be 12, 13 and 14 degrees. So not bitterly chilly... but enough to break out the extra thick sleeping bag if you're headed out camping this weekend.

As the models get a better handle on just how cool this airmass will be, the forecast temperatures may jump around a bit over the next few days, but I'll keep you posted.
