Hey Folks,
Well it's that time of year when the yo yo of temperatures takes hold. Warm up... Cool down... Warm up... Cool down. And we're going to be getting a pretty good taste of both the warm and cool over the next week or so.
THE WEEKEND
It's a nice warm day across Newfoundland today, however things are cooling down quick tonight-Saturday as the Cold front I've been talking about all year finally makes it's appearence. In behind, winds will be in from the Northwest and temperatures will be stuck in the Low double digits making things feel more like October.
SATURDAY

The best place to be tomorrow will be the West Coast. You folks will be shielded from the wind coming in from the North Atlantic and so temperatures there could rise to 16 or 17 degrees. Central and East will be looking at 12-13 degrees. There's about a 40% chance of a showers in Central and 30% in the East.
In Labrador it's Mostly Sunny in the East (13-15 degrees) and Mostly Cloudy in the West (9-11).
SUNDAY

The pick of the Province has to be Eastern Labrador... where temperatures could hit 18 or 19 with Sunshine. Those winds will still be in from the North and in Newfoundland and so the West Coast will be Sunny with 15-17 degrees. Central and East are looking at 13-14 degrees and again about a 40% of a shower blowing on shore. Western Labrador will have winds in from the West and so temps could hit 15 or 16.
MONDAY
Winds will be back in from the West in Newfoundland on Monday and so temperatures will be back to normal and high pressure will be dominating with Sunshine. A system working well to the North will bring a Cold front and showers to Labrador on Monday.
NEXT WEEK
It looks like that Cold front will be real deal for next week as it pushes into Labrador on Monday and then Newfoundland on Tuesday. The Low is coming from way up in the Arctic and will be packing a punch in terms of the Cold air it's bringing. As a result, expect temperatures to fall back to below seasonal Tuesday-Wednesday in Labrador and Wednesday-Thursday in Newfoundland.
So how Cold are we talking?? Well, here's the latest GFS forecast model... which is showing a strong Northerly flow bringing in temperatures in the evenings which COULD be cold enough for flurries even into Newfoundland!!!

NOW, this is still a few days away, so we'll have to see how Cold this airmass actually is. Plus for flurries, you would also need some decent moisture along with those Cold temperatures and I'm not sure we'd be unlucky enough to get both... but I'm watching this closely.
Have a fantastic long weekend everyone!
Ryan
