FALL PREVIEW

Well, just like that. A blink of an eye and it's done. It's hard to believe summer is done. The long weekend has passed and the unofficial start to fall is really today... or tomorrow with the kiddies heading back to school.

But before we get into what's headed our way over the next few months, I wanted to update you on a couple of things in the shorter term.

BRIEF COOL SHOT COMING

The cold front slicing South across the Island today will bring in another shot of cool fall air. An area of High pressure anchored just to the West will clear the skies out in behind the front as well. As a result temperatures tonight, Wednesday and Wednesday night in Newfoundland will be some of the coolest temperatures so far this season.

Last week I talked about just how cold this air mass coming in will be... and what that could produce here on the ground. And it still looks indeed, that just a few hundred metres above the surface, conditions will be more than cold enough to sustain snow. And even here at the surface, we could see temperatures dipping to 1 or 2 degrees in Central Newfoundland overnight Wednesday into Thursday. BUT LUCKY FOR US... it doesn't look like there will be any moisture available for flurries... in those areas that are cold enough at the surface.

Temperatures will start to rebound on Wednesday in Labrador and Thursday in Newfoundland. More details on that, coming up tonight on Here & Now.

FALL PREVIEW

Ok, so everyone has been asking me, what does the fall have in store for us? Warmer temperatures? Lots of Rain? Early Snowfall ? Well, here's a look at Environment Canada's take on the next 3 months. First up Temperatures

TEMPERATURES
Fall-1.JPG
Good news if you're a fan of the warmer weather... as the next 3 months are looking warmer than normal. Not only Environment Canada's forecast, but a few of the other long range models are keeping things a little warmer than normal over the next 3 months.

PRECIPITATION
Fall-3.JPG
For most of the Province, looks like the next 3 months will be a little drier than normal. The exceptions being Northern Labrador where Postville to Hopedale are under the Normal Precip category and Nain is under the Above Normal Precip.

Should be interesting to see how things actually shape up over the next 3 months.

WELCOME TO FALL!!!

Your Comments

Ryan we enjoy your lively weather forcasting. My question:
What happened to your 3 month forcast about warmer temperatures and less precipitation? Since we returned to Labrador City last Tuesday, we have had nothing but cooler temperatures and rain.
