Big Ol Fall Storm
Wow. How about that Rain and Wind on the Avalon overnight and early this morning? What a wake up. Last week I talked a lot about this system which was a good sized system when it rolled into Newfoundland overnight last night. Some of the Heaviest rains have fallen through Southwestern Newfoundland and up the West Coast where 50 mm has certainly fallen in some places. This system is pumping lots of warm air up on the East side... as temperatures hit 18 degrees in St. John's. And on the backside of the system, it's tapping into lots of Cool air to the North and drawing it South. As a result it's Snowing in Nain this afternoon and there are flurries falling down into Western Labrador as well with temperatures of just 2 to 3 degrees. As of 1pm... the rainfall warnings have been dropped in Southwestern Newfoundland... however Rainfall Warnings remain in effect for the Coast of Labrador... I'll be making the call to Environment Canada this afternoon to get some rainfall totals for Newfoundland... and I'll share those with you tonight on Here & Now. TUESDAY LATE WEEK See you tonight!
