Danny Update- Friday

FRIDAY EVENING UPDATE

Hey Folks, Here's an early crack at Danny's rainfall totals... again these could change as we get closer. I'll have another blog update on Saturday afternoon/evening.

ORIGINAL POST

According to the Canadian Hurricane Centre, Tropical Storm Danny has actually weakened a bit through the overnight hours, however he is still a listed as a Tropical Storm with sustained winds of 65 km/h.

CURRENT TRACKS

Here's the latest National Hurricane Centre track bringing Danny along the spine of Nova Scotia and then into Southwestern Newfoundland on Sunday night.

Here's the latest Canadian Hurricane Centre track which is pretty similar, bringing Danny in as a Post Tropical Storm on Sunday.

WIND & RAIN

Like Bill, much of the rainfall with Danny will be out ahead of the storm. And so Sunday throughout the day we'll be seeing the rain and wind spreading in from Southwest in the morning to Northeast in the afternoon.
Again, it's looking more and more like Danny will be and feel more like a big ol Fall storm which moves in October. He'll have some very gusty winds and will drop a lot of rain... but I'm becoming less concerned that he's going to give us any power outages or damages.

Rainfall totals are still up in the air as we are more than 48 hours away from Danny moving in however, I thought I'd share we with a few of the models I'm keeping a close eye on.
This is the Canadian GEM model's morning run showing a decent 30-40 mm shot for most of Southern Newfoundland.

This is the American GFS model which is heavier on the rainfall. It likes the bullseye to run up along the Western/Central regions of Newfoundland with a decent 40-60 mm during last few runs. So some decent totals.

Winds could be pretty gusty again on the Eastern side of the track where we could see 70-90 km/h gusts.

*** TONIGHT-SATURDAY MORNING WILL BE A KEY TIME FOR TROPICAL STORM DANNY AS HE MAKES HIS WAY INTO MORE FAVORABLE CONDITIONS FOR GROWING. AS A RESULT, I'LL HAVE ANOTHER UPDATE ON THE FORECAST AND WHAT'S COMING OUR WAY RIGHT HERE ON THE BLOG, SATURDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE 5PM.

SO CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES.
