Hey Folks,
I just wanted to give you a quick update on the weekend situation.
-At this point you folks in Labrador are in for a dandy weekend. It looks like Sunshine on Saturday and Sun and Cloud on Sunday. Temperatures should be into the Low 20's with High pressure in complete control.
-Our approaching Tropical type system is still forecast to track up the Eastern Seaboard and move into the Maritimes on Friday night/Saturday.
-The issue with the forecast is all about that area of High pressure in Labrador and how strong it is. Now, the strength of the Tropical system obviously plays a factor as well. However if that High is strong enough, it will keep the Low to the South of Newfoundland and Sunday will be Mostly Cloudy, but for the most part dry.
-So what's it going to be? Great question. The models have yet to make up their mind and seem to change up a) the intensity of the Low and b) the strength of that high, almost every single run.
Here's what I would say now for the weekend forecast in Newfoundland
-Saturday will bring with it some sunshine. However temperatures will be cool. With that High in Labrador, winds will be in from the North. Temperatures likely won't break 20 degrees anywhere in Newfoundland.
-Sunday. I do think the Island will see some form of showers on Sunday. I think the heavy downpours will remain South of the Island. But I don't think the High will be strong enough to keep Newfoundland completely dry.
I'll have another update tomorrow.
