System Will Stay Off Coast...

...for the most part.

As much has everyone in the Province has been pretty dry so far this summer. Eastern Newfoundland and Eastern Labrador have been the driest. And the Water ban in place in St. John's as well as the fire situation in Northwest River are full proof.

-Last night at St. John's airport only 3.5 mm fell. I think locally there were some backyard gardens which had more than that... but certainly no more than 10.
-Goose Bay airport reported 5 mm last night... with perhaps another 2-5 mm on the way through today and tonight and Wednesday. Not nearly enough.
-Most of the rain that fell in the Province yesterday, fell in Western Newfoundland and Labrador. Burgeo actually picked up 43 mm... while Deer Lake picked up 14 mm and Labrador City and Churchill falls picked up 12 mm.
-Over the next 36 hours it looks like Western Labrador will again see the bulk of the rain with 15-20 mm through tonight and possibly another 5 tomorrow.
-Now as for that system I'm tracking to the South... it's not looking promising. This thing is carrying a good 40 mm shot with it. However, 95 percent of it will fall into the North Atlantic. The Avalon will see some showers overnight tonight and early tomorrow morning however no more than 5 mm is in the cards.

-And so our hope for rain rests with our next system which is crossing the Praries today. It will hit the Coast and move North into our neck of the woods Friday and Saturday. It's a little too early to tell how much rain could fall... but it's not a Coastal storm... so it's not looking like a soaker at this point.
