My Take On The Weekend

Hey Folks,

No doubt, this is a big weekend for many of you. Here we are now into the heart of July and I'm sure many of you are either on holidays or trying to make the best of the weekends at this point. So what's this weekend looking like. Well, in word. Unsettled. I know that's a word I use quite often, but I think it really does describe the weekend quite well. We have 2 systems on the way. The first one for Friday-Saturday and the second one will come in on Sunday.

Here are my points for the weekend.

SATURDAY
-I think Saturday morning will be the dampest period of the day across the Province.

-The showers will be a bit steadier in Newfoundland with some light showers/drizzle in Labrador.
-Labrador will see some clearing in the afternoon. Still mostly cloudy.
-As we move through the afternoon hours, Newfoundland will start to see some gradual clearing. That is good news because I know many of you are headed to The Salmon Festival. Right now, definitely bring the rain gear... but it looks like the steadiest rains will be in the morning... and the Heaviest Rains will come on Sunday.

SUNDAY
July16-3.JPG
- Sunday certainly looks like the wetter of the two days for Newfoundland.
-You folks in Labrador, stay tuned. The American model has been showing an area of High pressure to your North will be strong enough to keep the rain shower activity to your South, however the Canadian model which I'm showing here, is still bringing it in.
-Sunday morning (above) the Steadiest Rains will ramp up on the West Coast. I think Central will see it's decent shot late morning and early afternoon. Eastern Newfounland, late afternoon and early evening.

-Weekend totals could top out around 20-30 mm in parts of Western and Central Newfoundland... however I think Eastern Newfoundland, where the water is really needed, won't see anymore than 15-20mm. In Labrador a lot has to do on what happens with your Sunday forecast... but I think generally around 10-15 mm.
