The Province of Opposites
Hey Folks, Well if you live in Western Labrador, I'm sure you must be fed up. Here we are June 3rd and you're still waking up to sights like this. What a difference a year can make Last May in Western Labrador the average daily high was 11.8 degrees and for the entire month only 1 cm of Snow fell. So are there any signs of warmth? Well, you're average high now is suppose to be 14. And it doesn't look like you're going to get any warmer than 10 or 11 degrees over the next 7 days. However late next week around the 10th and 11th and into the week of the 15th I'm seeing signs of some warmer weather again. So sit tight. June 1st- September 30th True summer in Newfoundland. Starting on June 1st and all the way until the end of September Environment Canada will issue Frost Warnings when they see the risk. And tonight is our first good chance of seeing a frost this month in Central and Western sections. Our New Webcam If you recognize the view it's from The Rooms in St. John's overlooking the Harbour. You can check it out anytime by going to www.cbc.ca/nl and clicking on weather. A Look Ahead Newfoundland- So the good news for you folks on the Island is, this fantastic weather is going to continue.... perhaps right through the weekend. It looks like the Low pressure system I was worried about for Friday in the East... is going to be Southeast of the Island. There's another system I'm watching for Sunday which could still move in... however the models have backed off that idea for now. Although I'm still watching it closely. That said, the West Coast could get clipped with some showers Sunday thanks to another system moving through Labrador. More on that below. Labrador- You folks will finally start to see some clearing on Thursday as this pesky low responsible for the Snow and Cold will move to the North. Late Thursday and Friday the sun should be trying to poke through the clouds. However, we have another system rolling into Western Labrador on Saturday with showers. It looks like it will move into Eastern Labrador Late Saturday with Sunday showers. Temperatures on the weekend should be 13-15 in the East and 10 or 11 in the West. Ryan Your Comments
