ANOTHER WARM SHOT MOVING IN!

Hey Folks,

Not that you need any reminders, however I thought I'd show you just one more photo from yesterday morning. This one is from Karen Pinsent, who woke up to this sight in Brighton.

Now, the good news!
All the cold air... and snow and misery we've been battling over the past 4 or 5 days across the Province is heading out. As we speak, winds are already shifting in from the Southwest around an area of High pressure (which is also slowly clearing us out) and that will help to pump in our 3rd decent shot of warm air this Spring.

April 22nd-26th- Was a really warm period for the Island. If you recall, the warm air came pumping in late in the week and stuck around for the weekend, where temperatures soared to 18 in St. John's, 20 in Gander and Grand Falls-Windsor and 19 in Corner Brook. Labrador didn't really get a taste of that shot.

May 1st-8th- Yes, just last week really was our second good shot of warm air. It wasn't as defined as the first shot... but really from May 1st until this past weekend... for the most part everyone experienced above normal temperatures. Mid to late last week seemed to be the climax for many. 15 in St. John's, 19 in Gander, 20 in GFW, 19 in Corner Brook, 15 in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and 16 in Labrador City.

So, how warm will this shot be... and how long will it last? Here's what we know so far.

WEDNESDAY
The warm up starts tomorrow. Wednesday will be a fantastic day across the Province. As you can see below, High pressure will be anchored just to the South and that will help steer the winds in from the West Southwest and have the Sun shining for everyone.

Temperatures will be and feel significantly warmer than they are today.
St. John's and Eastern Island- 12 to 14
Central Newfoundland- 16 to 18
Western Newfoundland- 14 to 16
Eastern Labrador- 10 to 12
Western Labrador- 12 to 14

THURSDAY
...will be even warmer than Wednesday with Forecast highs possibly reaching 18 or 19 on the Northeast Avalon. 20 or 21 for Central Newfoundland and 18 or 19 on the West Coast as well. The Sun will dominate in Newfoundland as well.
In Labrador, the East will rise to 14 or 15 degrees with a mix of sun and cloud, however the West will see increasing clouds and late day showers thanks to a cold front slicing in from Quebec. That will keep your temperature to 12 or 13.

FRIDAY AND THE LONG WEEKEND
Everyone of course, is watching for the long weekend forecast. The May 2-4! Almost everyone has a crazy story about camping on the May 24th weekend and waking up with Snow on the tent. Well, even though it's only Tuesday I'm going to try and give you a rough idea of what we could be seeing this long weekend. Here are a couple of points marching forward.

-We have 2 different systems I'm watching for the weekend. The first is the Low I mentioned above, which is approaching Western Labrador on Thursday. It will push into Eastern Labrador and Western Newfoundland with Friday showers.
-It could also bring scattered showers to Central and Eastern Newfoundland on Saturday.
-Friday and Saturday temps look to be in the low-mid teens in Newfoundland and between 8 and 12 degrees in Labrador.
-Sunday and Monday both look cooler for the entire Province. 5 to 8 degrees.
-Our second system could be approaching on Sunday with showers for everyone.
-The Jury is still out on whether we'll be clearing out and chilly on Monday... or still shower and cool.

I'll keep you updated through the week.

Ryan
