A Wild Week!

Hey folks, I hope you had a great weekend!

The Weather Menu has a little bit of everything on it across the Province for this final week of May. Some wet snow across the Island and in Labrador, followed by a nice big warm up, followed by a nice juicy system rolling in from the Southwest just in time for the weekend.

TONIGHT/TUESDAY
First things first. The Low pressure system which spread rain showers into Newfoundland and wet snow mixed with rain into Labrador yesterday in through this morning... is now exiting out to the Northeast. However, there's a lingering trough which will pass over Southern Labrador and then Northern Newfoundland overnight tonight and into Tuesday morning. Along that trough light showers mixing with some WET SNOW will fall.

I think the best chance of seeing 2-3 cm of wet snow will be in through Southern Labrador and then down across the Northern Peninsula and into Baie Verte Peninsula and Bay of Exploits regions. The Humber Valley, Grand Falls-Windsor and Gander regions are all likely to be wiping some snow off the windshield Tuesday morning. Further Southeast, Bonavista, Clarenville as well as St. John's and the Northern Avalon could definitely see some wet flurries on Tuesday morning as the trough passes. With temperatures around 2 or 3 degrees, I don't think it will stick, but it could be falling.

Tuesday as a whole, we will be trying to clear out across the Province. However temperatures will be cool with winds in from the Northwest. Western Newfoundland and Eastern Labrador will be the hot spots at 5 or 6 degrees.

WED-THURS
High pressure moving in from the West will be a welcome sign on Wednesday. It will move in and settle to the South of the Island... and so winds will initially be in from the West. As a result, Wednesday looks like a good Mix of Sun and Cloud for everyone... and temperatures on the rise. Right around the 10 degree mark for most.

On Thursday High pressure will move a little further east and will tap into that wonderful air to the South with a nice Southwesterly flow to all. 14, 15, 16 degrees will be back on the menu for most of the Province.

WATCHING THE SOUTH
As I mentioned there is a system well off to the South, which has been hammering Florida for the better part of a week. It's now moved into the Gulf of Mexico... but all indications are... it's heading Northeast. Now, the models are doing their usual dosy doe right now. The American model likes the Friday-Saturday time frame right now.
While the Canadian model (below) is a bit later with more of a Saturday-Sunday solution. Either way, this looks like it could be a pretty wet system, so I'm keeping a close eye on it and I'll keep you updated over the next few days.
