Watching For The Warmth...

So Where is Spring???

This morning Happy Valley Goose Bay is finally seeing some sunshine... however it's Cold and there's between 30 and 40 fresh cm of Snow on the ground since the weekend. Some places along the Labrador Coast have seen close to 50 cm of Snow in that time. Winds have been gusting up to 90 and 100 km/h... and we still have Blowing Snow Warnings in effect from Nain to L'Anse-au-Clair. Labrador City you're still seeing the sunshine... however that -20 windchill must feel Cold.

In Newfoundland, temperatures today are the coldest they've been in almost a month! And tomorrow looks almost exactly the same. Brisk Northwesterly winds and flurries from time to time. The West Coast and Northern Peninsula could pick up another 5-10 by Friday night.

So that's the bad news... and temperatures will remain BELOW normal until at least next Monday.

Any good news? Any warm temperatures in sight?

Taking a look at the long range forecast... we will warm up a little bit over the weekend.... but again not even enough to get us to the seasonal mark. By the looks of things now, our next warm shot will move in with a system coming in mid-next week.
The system is actually just developing along the foothills of the Rockies in the U.S. South. It's going to be pretty delayed getting out of the gate... however it should begin it's Northeasterly trek late this weekend. It will head up along the Eastern Seaboard and move into our Province Wednesday or Thursday with Rain... but most importantly WARM TEMPERATURES!!!

I think the warmer temperatures could actually start pushing in ahead of the system on Tuesday! But until then... keep those gloves handy.

See you tonight on Here & Now.
