It's Warm... and it's going to get Warmer!

Hey Happy Earth Day Folks!

I hope you're enjoying the warmer temperatures across the Province today. Temperatures should get to double digits almost everywhere today as our Low pressure system to the West really helps our Southerly flow develop.
Our system will move slowly to the Northeast... and spread Rain from West to East as it does. Here are a few points.

-No doubt, the Southwest corner of Newfoundland is going to get the bulk of the rain with this system. From today until Thursday night I think Stephenville, Port aux Basques, Burgeo and everyone in between could see 20-30 mm of Rain. A decent soaking.
-Rainfall totals will really drop off as you head North and East. The rest of the South coast and up the West Coast of the Island could see as much as 5-10 mm. Even less for Central and the Northeast Coast.
-In Labrador... looks like 10-15 mm is a safe bet from Labrador City right over to Cartwright including you folks in HV-GB and down through the Southeast Coast. 5-10 through the Straits. Again this is by Friday morning.

FRIDAY-SATURDAY-SUNDAY
I've been seeing signs of this pattern since Saturday or Sunday on the Weather models... but I've been too afraid to mention it. I didn't want to jinx it. However it appears the pattern is going to hold and the models seem to be in pretty good agreement.
-After this Low exits out of the Eastern part of the Country... a massive ridge of High pressure will take it's place.
-The massive High will be parked off the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S. and it will do what it does best... spinning around with it's clockwise flow. This will pump the air from the Southern U.S. right up into the Northeast U.S., the Great Lakes, into the Maritimes and then finally into Newfoundland.
-Southern Ontario, New Brunswick and parts of Nova Scotia could be into the mid-20's!
-PEI, Coastal Nova Scotia and here in Newfoundland will be well into the teens.

-You folks in Labrador are still a little up in the air as to whether you're going to get a taste of this weekend heat. On Friday and Saturday it looks like you just won't quite get into that same Southerly flow. Your winds will be in from the Northwest... that's thanks to today's system which will still be parked off the Coast of Greenland. On Sunday, that Cold front you see cutting in from the West could actually draw in some warm air ahead of it... but showers and cool down would quickly follow. That said, we're still a few days away and things could change.

As always, I'll keep you up to date...

Ryan
