SUNSHINE ON THE MENU THIS WEEK

Hey folks,

I hope you all had a great weekend, just a quick reminder. I'm filling in for Colleen Jones on CBC News Morning on CBC Newsworld this week. Because I'll still be doing my regular duties on Here & Now... my time to update the blog takes a hit. So, I just wanted to let you know the posts here on the blog could be a bit lacking this week.

Alright on to the Weather.

An area of High pressure sitting over Northern Labrador and Baffin Island... will flex its muscles and help our Province out a great deal this week. It's actually going to split in half the Winter Storm hammering the Maritimes today. One piece of the system will head East and pass JUST to the South of the Island. While the other piece will head into Central Quebec brining a few light flurries to Western Labrador on Tuesday.

After that it's High pressure domination for most of the week. Here's a general rundown on the week ahead.

TUESDAY
Looks mostly cloudy across most of the Island. As I mentioned, our system at hand will be sliding just the South and as a result a pretty cloudy day for Newfoundland on Tuesday... however in the afternoon the sunshine should start to peak through the clouds. In Western Labrador a few flurries will fall through out the day and in Eastern Labrador... the clouds should clear in the afternoon.

WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY
High pressure and sunshine across the entire Province. Temperatures of 3 or 4 in Newfoundland and between 0 and 3 degrees in Labrador. Labrador City, you folks could see some late afternoon flurries Thursday into Friday. Thanks to our next system moving in from the Southwest.

FRIDAY
That system will be trying to bust through our wall of High pressure and bring in some Rain/Snow mix on Friday. The models have been flip flopping on whether or not it will break through on Friday or Saturday. I'll keep a close eye and will have all the details throughout the week on Here & Now.
