A Fairly Sunny Forecast

Hey Folks,

I hope you all had a great weekend. As the title says... if you're a fan of the sunshine... we have a a pretty nice week shaping up across the Province.
Today is actually a pretty nice day for most. However, a weak trough of Low pressure is hanging out along the Northeast Coast of Newfoundland today... and that's bringing Snow and Blowing Snow to the NE Coast as well as SE Labrador. That trough will kick out tonight and we'll slowly see clearing skies across the Province as High pressure builds in from the West.
Tuesday will be a nice day for everyone... however the Avalon/Northeast Coast may see a little more cloud than Sun with winds in from the North Northwest kicking up some cloud cover and pushing it inland.

SYSTEM FOR WED/THURS
This system is primarily going to be a Thursday system. Western Labrador, you'll see Snowfall on Wednesday, perhaps as much as 10 cm, while the rest of the Province will see a nice Sunny day with increasing afternoon clouds. As of now, Thursday looks like a Snowy day for Eastern Labrador and Western Newfoundland. While Central and Eastern Newfoundland will be back to the same old Snow then Rain situation. This system is tracking in from the Great Lakes and then up into Central Quebec and then Labrador... so there isn't too much moisture with it.
I think 5-10 cm is probably a safe bet for now.

This system is still a few days out... so I'll keep you updated.

Either way things should clear out with more Sunshine for Friday and into Saturday... however temperatures will take a big dip as well.

WATCHING FOR SHEILA-UPDATE
On Friday here on the blog I talked about how I'm watching the forecasting models for signs of Sheila's Brush... or one more big Snow event for the Province around St. Patrick's Day. What I mentioned could happen... has happened and the GFS model has backed off on the Coastal Storm possibility and is instead bringing the system up through the Great Lakes... for now. However, it's encouraging that the GFS and now the GEM are both in agreement of some significant energy coming out of the Gulf of Mexico late this weekend and tracking Northeast. Whether this thing goes Coastal or not still remains to be seen.... but I'll keep you posted.
