Your Weekend Ahead

Hey folks,

What a mess this morning across the Island especially in the East. At my house in St. John's there was a decent 15 cm on the ground before the transition over to Freezing Rain around 9:30 or 10am. 5-10 cm was generally the name of the game across the Island this morning.
Here are some stats as of 4pm.

St. John's-7 cm
St. Lawerence-5 cm
Gander- 9 cm
Badger- 13 cm
Deer Lake- 9 cm
Englee- 9 cm
St. Anthony- 5 cm

Wreckhouse- 158 km/h
Long Pond (CBS)-115 km/h
Bonavista- 109 km/h
Grates Cove-107 km/h
Port Aux Basques-104 km/h
Argentia- 98 km/h

Now, we've really seen things clear out this afternoon in Newfoundland... however you folks in Labrador are just getting started. Some decent Snowfall this afternoon and into the overnight... with 10-15 cm for Eastern Labrador and 10 cm for Western Labrador.

As we move into the Weekend here's what you can expect...

SATURDAY
Feb20.JPG
The bulk of the precipitation with this thing is all on the leading edge of this system. The actual centre of the Low... is still Southwest of the Island. So as this Low tracks to the North we're going to see a little more precip moving across the Island Saturday. Light Flurries are in the forecast for everyone in Newfoundland tomorrow.
In Labrador, the Coast is going to stay dicey... especially in the morning. Snow & Blowing Snow with another 5-10 cm... more Snow the further North you go. Happy Valley Goose Bay Light Snow continues with 5 cm by Saturday evening and Labrador City lingering flurries.

SUNDAY
Feb20-1.JPG
Sunday will be a beautiful day most across the Island. Sunshine and temperatures hovering right around the freezing mark. Now, you folks along the West Coast, the winds will be in from the Southwest and so that will kick some cloud cover up for you folks. I think the sun will peak through the clouds... however you could also pick up a trace of sea effect snow. In Labrador, we'll see some lingering flurries but some sunny breaks too.

MONDAY
Late Monday into Tuesday the computer models are blowing up a system and bringing it up through Western Newfoundland. That could mean another mess of Snow/Mix/Rain for Eastern and Central sections of the Island. In Eastern Labrador, you folks will likely see all Snow ... but not until Monday night.

Have a great weekend.

Ryan

Your Comments

Ryan, your graphics and forecast format have pushed NTV into the background. Their (NTV) one adorning element is Toni Marie. She looks good.
