Temps Slowly On The Rise

Well, she's brisk out there today.
Feeling into the -30's across Labrador and well into the -20's in Newfoundland. Now, the Sunshine is helping to make it feel a bit warmer... but there's no doubt the bitter wind gusting to 60 & 80 km/h feels Chilly.

WEDNESDAY
The winds today are in from the Northwest... however as we move into tomorrow they'll be switching in more from the West.... as that Low in the Labrador Sea slowly looses it's grip on us and shifts NE. The change in the winds will help warm us up a bit... however the winds will still be gusting to 50 or 60... so Wind Chills Wednesday will feel about the same as they do today. We also have a weak system working North out of Quebec and so you folks in Labrador West will see some afternoon light snow working in with 2-4 cm by Thursday morning. Happy Valley Goose Bay some light flurries in the late afternoon and evening may leave you with a trace.
Across the Island... again temperatures will remain cool... but another day of Sunshine is on the Menu. So Enjoy.

THURSDAY-FRIDAY
A system developing in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico today is going to brew up into a decent sized system over the next 24 hours and then head Northeast into the Great Lakes by Wednesday night. The system will roll in with increasing clouds across our Province on Thursday... and some snow falling by Thursday evening in the South. However from there... it's still very much uncertain where this system will track.

Feb10th.JPG

The Canadian GEM model is bringing the system up along the West Coast and then through the Straits... which would allow lots of Warm air to pump North and bring Rain showers for almost the entire Island on Friday.
However, the GFS American model is showing a much different track... keeping the system South of the Island... which would keep the warm air out... and bring most of the Island Snow. But not a ton. 10-15 cm Max.

I'll keep a close eye on the models over the next 24 and I'll pass along the latest.
