After the snowfall today and tonight in Labrador... High pressure will settle in from the West clearing things out... but dropping temperatures as well. That system bringing the Snow to Labrador will bring Rain across the Island. And that's only one of 3 systems on the way before mid next week... break out the rubber boots Newfoundland.
SATURDAY
-The Snow will begin to taper off in Labrador tomorrow. Western Labrador you'll likely have seen 20-25 cm on the ground before the clouds lift by noon. Temperatures will be a bitter -25. Snowfall totals will be more like 10-15 cm in Eastern Labrador... but again Sunshine should be breaking through the clouds by late Saturday afternoon with temperatures falling to -15.
-The Island will be a different story. Get ready for sloppy wet weather. The Cold front will begin to slice across Western Newfoundland in the morning. Temperatures will rise to 6 degrees! with 15-20 mm of Rain by Saturday evening before you change over to Snow. Overnight Saturday into Sunday you could see 5 cm of Snow... and all that rain will freeze up as temps drop to -8.
Central Newfoundland-Temperatures will rise to 7 degrees with 5-10 mm of Rain in the afternoon.
Eastern Newfounland- 6 or 7 degrees will be the high... with a mostly cloudy skies. Although the sunshine will be poking through the clouds as well. The showers won't arrive until Saturday evening... SO GET OUT AND ENJOY SNOW BEFORE IT'S ALL GONE!
SUNDAY
Labrador- SUNSHINE!!! and temperatures around -15. Enjoy it.
Western Newfoundland- Temperatures will be a bit cooler in behind that Cold front on Sunday... with a high of -1. You could see 2-5 cm's of Snow coming in off the Gulf.
Central Newfoundland- Again temps will be a bit cooler on Sunday... right around the freezing mark. A messy mix of light wet flurries and light rain showers. Damp is a good way of putting it.
Eastern Newfounland- Temperatures will be cool in the morning so wet flurries are on the menu. However they should rise to 3 or 4 degrees in the afternoon... so expect a change over to afternoon showers. Sunday will indeed be wet.
Now this is where things get interesting... because Sunday evening into Sunday night our next system arrives with Snow across Newfoundland. Perhaps a decent 5-10 cm shot overnight Sunday into Monday morning. However Eastern and Central Newfoundland will likely change BACK TO RAIN AGAIN throughout out the day on Monday as this system tracks North. Western Newfoundland should remain Snow.
A third system will track in Tuesday into Wednesday. Next week looks very very very messy across the Island. You folks in Labrador could see some flurries on Monday... but for the most part will miss this mess.
More tonight on Here & Now.

I grew up thinking the first day of spring was March 21st. When did it change?
The first day of winter is December 21st wouldn't it follow that the 1st day of spring be March 21st?
