EARLY LOOK AT THE WEEKEND

Hey Folks,

You know, it's never too early to look ahead to the weekend...
In Corner Brook it's time for the ECMA's so of course there's a lot happening... and in Eastern Newfoundland... it's the end of February and there are a lot of folks wanting to get out and enjoy the snow before the Messy Mix of March moves in.
Unfortunately, the Messy Mix of Rain & Snow for March is moving in right on schedule for this weekend.

Here's how things will play out.

SATURDAY
A system rolling out up the St. Lawerence is going to draw A TON of warm air up ahead of it on Saturday.
Feb25.bmp
In Eastern Newfoundland...That will bring temperatures up to 4 or 5 degrees. A great MORNING for getting out there and enjoying it. The timing of this system right now... looks like it will be bringing showers in for the mid-late afternoon.
In Central, 2 or 3 degrees... with a mix of Snow & Rain for the afternoon.
In Western Newfoundland... this system looks like it has Heavy Wet Snow in store for you. Perhaps as much as 15-20 cm's of it. Again it's early... but temperatures on the models are only rising to 1 or maybe 2... keeping you as Snow... and showing a decent shot.
In Eastern Labrador... Snow for you folks as well... more through the Straits and in the Southeast... than in Happy Valley Goose Bay or up the Coast. Still too early to talk about amounts. Temperatures around -15... so much cooler than Friday at -3.
In Western Labrador... The winds wrapping in behind this system plus the High pressure slideing in behind will have the winds pumping in from the Northwest. As a result you'll be Sunny... but your going to see a MASSIVE temperature drop from Friday to Saturday. -3 to -23!!!

SUNDAY
Feb25-2.bmp
In Eastern Newfoundland... temperatures should stay warm enough for showers. Not a very nice day. Again early Saturday looks like the best time for outdoor adventures.
In Central Newfoundland... a messy mix of Snow & Rain in the morning should change over to flurries in the afternoon.
In Western Newfoundland... after what looks to be a decent shot of Snow on Saturday. Sunday will be digging out day with a few flurries and temperatures around the freezing mark.
In Eastern & Western Labrador.... Sunny and Cool with temperatures around -15.

WARM UP NEXT WEEK???
Now I'm looking WAAAAYYYY ahead.... so there are no guarantees here. However, a warning for you Snow lovers in Newfoundland!!! The models have been bringing another system in right on the heels of our weekend system for Monday. So what right? Well, right now this Monday system looks like its going to pump lots and lots of warm air in, bringing all Rain for Newfoundland. In fact, the models are indicating that system will help pump temperatures to 6 or 7 degrees on Monday... and the track it then takes to the North and West would actually keep temperatures at 4 or 5 degrees until mid-week. That would obviously do some serious damage to the Snow pack.

I'll keep ya posted.

Ryan

It's nice to have a warm weathered break from the colder, cloudy and icy days we've been having. Yes, I'm not crazy about winter. I do get excited when we a major shot of sun. Keep up the great work, Ryan.
