Eastern Island Snows Coming...
Hey Folks,
Take a look at SNOW ON GROUND measurements from Environment Canada stations around the Province... the are approx.
Nain- 167 cm
Happy Valley Goose Bay- 100 cm
Cartwright- 90 cm
Labrador City-90 cm
Mary's Harbour-77 cm
St. Anthony- 66 cm
Deer Lake- 34 cm
Stephenville- 32 cm
Badger- 17 cm
Gander- 12 cm
St. John's- 15 cm
And you folks living in Grand Falls-Windsor, Gander, Clarenville, The Burin, St. John's & The Avalon know those measurements are generous with many many patches of green showing. So, where's the Snow? We been primary been seeing Storms take that track in which they cut up through Central or even further West... which brings Rain to everyone East of the track.
The good news is... they aren't massive dumps of snow... but I'm watching 2 systems which are tracking in over the next 3 days... which could bring some much wanted snow to some of you folks mentioned.
TONIGHT'S SYSTEM
You folks living West of Arnold's Cove... sorry your going to have to wait. Tonight-Saturday morning's system is an Avalon Peninsula system only. But, you folks on the Avalon could see half a foot of snow by Noon on Saturday.
5-10 cm's is the forecast total as of now. Blowing snow will also be a factor tonight and into Saturday morning so keep that in mind if you're going to driving.
SUNDAY-MONDAY
The system coming in Sunday night is looking more and more like an Eastern tracker. Which again is good news for you snow lovers East of GFW. This looks like a pretty decent snowfall for St. Alban's-Gander and East to Cape Spear. Burgeo, Grand Falls Windsor & The Bay of Exploits you could be into the action too.

It's tough to say when we're still more than 48 hours away from the first flakes hitting the ground... however here's an EARLY look at how much Snow we could see.

Again, the forecast could change... so make sure you listen to CBC Radio this weekend for updates.... and be prepared for some hairy driving conditions on your way to work Monday morning.
Have a great weekend.
Ryan.
P.S. I'm also watching what looks to be a good sized Winter STORM on the way for mid next week. Tuesday night-Wednesday time period perhaps. Things are certainly staying Active.
Hi Ryan, hope you had a great Holiday Break at home, and we're glad to have you back. Kudos again on the fantastic presentation with the forecasting...and I *just* finished watching the Revue skit, a la Prairie Dawn and Sesame Street (Old School of course). I'm still laughing ...10 minutes later. Your sense of humor and enthusiasm are a big part of the Newfoundland character. You might be from "up along", but you have the heart and mannerisms of a NL'er. Thanks again for the info and the laughs, keep 'em coming. Cheers~
