Hey folks,
As you may have heard me mention yesterday on Here & Now... the stormy pattern continues and we have yet ANOTHER storm moving out of Southern Ontario and into our neck of the woods for late Christmas Eve and into Christmas Day. This system will be taking a very similar track to the system which just passed through Sunday night & Monday... with lots of Snow for some & Snow then Rain then Snow again for others. Here's an early look at how things should play out over the next 2 days.
CHRISTMAS EVE
Snow flurries ahead of the system will begin to work onto the Island from Southwest to Northeast. From Port aux Basques to Gros Morne you folks along the West Coast will begin to see flurries by early afternoon. From The Burin Peninsula to the Bay of Exploits by supper time & Bonavista and St. John's by Evening on Christmas Eve. Snow will continue overnight.
CHRISTMAS DAY
We're going to see a slow transition from Snow to Rain for Eastern sections of the Island.

For the Avalon, Bonavista and Burin Peninsula's the transition from Snow to Rain will happen on Christmas Morning. During the transition, there is a chance that we could see a breif period of freezing rain... so keep that in mind if you're going to be travelling. The transition from Snow to Rain will continue to spread East through Gander and St. Alban's in the early afternoon. The tough call is going to be for you folks along that line from Twillingate and the Bay of Exploits and down through Grand Falls Windsor and Southwest to Port aux Basques. Looks like temperatures will be very close to the freezing mark and so Snow or Rain will be a tough call. Right now, it looks more like Snow for you folks just mentioned. West of that line it's all Snow and quite a bit of it for Western portions of the Island and up the Northern Peninsula. South Eastern Labrador will see some snow as well from this system on Christmas Day but just enough to whiten things up.
More details tomorrow on the blog... and tonight on Here & Now.
