Orca-nized jumps: Video of breaching killer whales

It’s been quite the week for orca sightings around Newfoundland. First, we had the remarkable video of orcas living up to their nickname of killer whales, with an attack on a minke whale. Other video has surfaced, including shots from Torbay that we embedded into this story that reported a warning of getting too close to orcas.
Today, there’s this video, which Bob Bartlett of Trinity Bay posted to his YouTube channel. Click here for a second video, and here for Bob’s channel itself.

Feeding Mr. Fox? Not a fantastic idea

Wildlife officials have some advice for folks driving up and down the Northern Peninsula: don’t feed the foxes.
The Department of Natural Resources says foxes can be found in the region, and in some places … like St. Anthony and along Route 430 … people have been known to feed the foxes.
Bad idea, apparently.
Wildlife officials say that accomplishes one thing: keeping foxes near roads and in danger from traffic.
There’s another risk, of course. Like many wild animals, foxes are unpredictable (and people shouldn’t get too close. Even if they do sound like George Clooney!
