About that car with no brakes
When RCMP officers picked 10 cars randomly for spot checks on the Trans-Canada Highway this week (see a video here), one of the cars turned out to be in supremely bad condition.
How so? The vehicle had no brakes to speak of.
Here in the newsroom, this kind of an image came to mind.

You say Come Home Year, they say Checkpoint Days
There’s a bunch of Come Home Year celebrations on the Northern Peninsula in the next few weeks, and the RCMP are getting ready to take part.
Sort of.
From the Inbox:
“The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Rocky Harbour, Port Saunders, Flowers Cove, Roddickton and St. Anthony are advising the motoring public that between July 23rd, 2010 and August 3rd, 2010 numerous traffic checkpoints will be conducted throughout the Great Northern Peninsula. The checkpoints will be in conjunction with the many “Come Home Year” celebrations, garden parties, and general festivities happening on the Northern Peninsula during this period.”
You’ve been advised, folks!
