School cancellations Sept. 23

For Thursday, September 23rd, 2010.

UPDATED: Avalon East Region: Vanier Elementary will open for the afternoon classes.
Doors open at 12:10 p.m.; classes start at 12:35 p.m.

The following schools will remain closed for the day:

(1)Bishop Field Elementary
(2)Brother Rice Junior High
(3)District School
(4)Gonzaga High
(5)Rennie's River Elementary
(6)St. Andrew's Elementary
(7)O'Donel High
(8)St. Peter's Elementary
(9)Cape St. Francis Elementary
(10)Mary Queen of Peace
(11) Virginia Park Elementary
(12)Stella Maris School, Trepassey

William Mercer Academy and Jane Collins Academy will remain closed this afternoon because there's no water.

Riverwood Academy, Wings Point, will reopen for the afternoon. Buses will begin picking up students at approximately 11:45. Classes will begin at 12:30.

All schools in the Avalon West Region are OPEN with the EXCEPTION of the
following THREE schools that are closed for the morning but there will be
an update at 10:30 am.:
(1) Fatima Academy, St. Brides
(2) Cresent Collegiate, Whitbourne
(3) Holy Family , Chapel Arm

The Eastern School District advises that schools in the Burin and Vista regions will remain closed on Thursday, September 23, 2010.

Ecole Des Grands Vents is closed all day.

St. Bonaventure's College WILL RE-OPEN today (Thur). It is DAY 6 on the schedule.

Crescent Collegiate, Blaketown will be closed this morning due to damaged roads west of Whitbourne. There will be an update aT 10:30 for the afternoon classes. A decision regarding Curriculum night will be announced at 10:30 as well.
