2008 will be the 3rd Canada's Next Great Prime Minister televised contest. Prior to 2006, the contest was a written essay. Here are the past winners from both the televised and written contests:

MARIA BANDA: 2003
Maria Banda and Reynolds Mastin were named co-winners in 2003. Maria is a graduate of the University of Toronto.
ROBIN RIX : 2002
Robin Rix was named 2002 National Winner for his essay entitled "An Ounce of Prevention: Long-term Policies for Canada".
RICHARD MELOFF : 2000
Richard Meloff was selected as the 2000 National Winner for his essay, "The 21st Century Belongs to Canada".
CHRISTOPHER MACLEOD : 1998
Christopher MacLeod was selected as the 1998 National Winner for his essay, "A Millennial Policy for Renewing Our Country".
WALTER PARSONS: 1996
Walter Parsons was selected as the 1996 National Winner for his proposal, "A New Strength For Canadians".

ALIKA LAFONTAINE : 2008
The 25 year old aboriginal physican from Saskatchewan was the winner of the 2008 competition.
JOSEPH LAVOIE : 2007
Congratulations to Joseph Lavoie who won the 2007 Canada's Next Great Prime Minister competition.
DEIRDRA MCCRACKEN : 2005/2006
Sudbury native Deirdra McCracken won the first televised Canada's Next Great Prime Minister competition.
ASHLEIGH ANDROSOFF : 2004
Ashleigh holds a BA from Simon Fraser University, a masters & PhD degree from the University of Toronto.
REYNOLDS MASTIN : 2003
Reynolds was a co-winner with Maria. Reynolds holds degrees from the University of Toronto and Ottawa.
CHRISTINA STACHULAK : 2001
Christina Stachulak was selected as the 2001 National Winner for her essay, entitled "Cellular Organization: An Elegant Model for Canada".
CORY MACDONALD : 1999
Cory MacDonald was selected as the 1999 National Winner for his essay, "Canada on the Cusp:A Re-engineering Strategy".
LOLEEN YOUNGMAN : 1997
Loleen Youngman was selected as the 1997 National Winner for her proposal, "We Stand on Guard for Thee: Protecting Canadian Unity and Prosperity".
TREVOR MOAT : 1995
Trevor Moat was selected as the 1995 National Winner for his proposal, "A Vision of National Unity and Improved Living Standards in Canada".
