Canada Day: My Canada is...

Categories: Canada

"My Canada is _______________." Oh, the possibilities!

Canada is many things: big, diverse, multilingual, beautiful, rich in resources, purveyor of outstanding maple syrup -- and, on July 1, 147 years old.

But Canada is so much more than these things.

To celebrate Canada Day, we want to hear what is special about your Canada. Is it your family? Your sense of security? Our four distinct seasons? The songbird that visits your balcony each summer morning? Our legendary authors, artists and musicians? Justin Bieber?

Submitting your video:

Vine or Instagram: Create a short video of yourself filling in the blank in the phrase "My Canada is ___________________." Then share the video via Twitter, using the hashtag #MyCanadaIs.

Smartphone/video camera: Record a short video of yourself filling in the blank in the phrase "My Canada is ___________________." Save your video as an .mp4 or .mov. Then tweet your video, using the hashtag #MyCanadaIs, email your video to us: or upload your video via the CBC Your News Community

Camera shy? We still want to hear from you! Just fill in the blank with your keyboard and tweet it with #MyCanadaIs.

Please be sure to include your name and home town whenever possible.

We'll feature some of your videos on CBC Television and CBC Radio, and during the CBC's special live coverage of Canada Day events in Charlottetown and Ottawa on Tues., July 1 from 5 a.m. ET to 2 p.m. ET.

Have questions? Leave them below or email us.

Happy filming and, more important, HAPPY CANADA DAY!
