Delays in comment moderation should be resolved on

Categories: Community

You may have had trouble publishing your comments to stories on over the weekend, but the problem should now be resolved.

It came to our attention Friday afternoon that moderators were having technical difficulties approving comments.  This resulted in many people waiting several hours to have their contributions published. We normally promised to moderate within 30 minutes.

Some people were also reporting trouble logging in or using the 'Like' button. We believe these issues may be related to the same bug, although we are still checking into exactly what caused the glitches. The team is investigating if the problems were are part of the issues that plagued companies like Vine and Instagram over the weekend.

We apologize for any frustration or inconvenience. Our developers worked feverishly to solve the problem all weekend long, and we believe everything should now be back to normal. However, we are still running tests to make sure.  If you notice any further bugs, please let us know by sending us an e-mail at Your help in pin-pointing any remaining issues is invaluable.

It's worth nothing that we also opened comments on fewer stories over the weekend. We wanted to cut down on stress to the platform and community frustration over moderation delays while we were troubleshooting the problem. We should be back to normal in this regard, too.

Thank you for your patience. We know the transition to our new commenting platform hasn't always been smooth, but feedback from the CBC Community has been incredibly helpful in working out the bugs. We are grateful for the partnership we have with the CBC Community.  Not only do your conversations add value and insight to the news stories, but your questions and concerns are an early warning system when something has gone wrong with the platform.
Thanks again, and keep us posted if you come across something that doesn't seem quite right.
