LIVE CHAT: Steve Podborski will be taking your questions in the live chat box embedded below on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. ET, 9:30 a.m. PT (THE CANADIAN PRESS/Jeff McIntosh)

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, our one-year countdown to the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi begins.

With only 365 days left until the opening ceremony, there's plenty of work to be done by athletes and organizers both here in Canada, and at the Games site in Russia.

Join legendary downhill skier Steve Podborski right here Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. ET /  9:30 a.m. PT. for a LIVE CHAT to discuss what lies ahead for our country's athletes in their pursuit of the podium.

Podborski, who has been on the World Cup podium 20 times throughout his career - a Canadian record - will be joining us from Sochi, where he's currently serving as Canada's chef de mission for the 2014 Winter games.

Best known as one of the "Crazy Canucks," Podborski and team members Ken Read, Dave Irwin and Andy Shaw put Canadian skiing on the map in the mid-1970s and early '80s with their aggressive, high-flying, and sometimes dangerous runs down the slopes.

The influence they have on Canadian sport continues. As chef de mission, Podborski will be team leader and spokesperson for Canadian athletes at the Games, and will work with the Canadian Olympic Committee to prepare competitors for the world stage.

Join us with your questions for Podborski at 12:30 p.m. ET / 9:30 a.m. PT. Wednesday below.

For more Sochi 2014 discussion, CBC Sports will be hosting a live chat with Canadian hockey player Meghan Agosta on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.

A key member of the Canadian women's hockey teams that won Olympic gold in 2006 in Turin and in 2010 in Vancouver, Agosta was named the most valuable player of the 2010 tournament after scoring nine goals and adding six assists

Meghan, who will try for a third consecutive gold medal in Sochi next year, currently plays for the Montreal Stars of the Canadian Women's Hockey League.
