Which events are you looking forward to in 2013?

Prince William and his wife Kate, Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their first child to be born this summer. (Alastair Grant/Associated Press)News can be extremely difficult to predict. Political shakeups, celebrity deaths and mass tragedies often happen with little to no warning, which makes it important for us to be responsive as news producers.

Some stories do come with a calendar date attached, however, allowing us to delve more deeply into the issues surrounding them in advance.

Last year brought us such scheduled events as Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee, the Summer Olympics, and a U.S. election you collectively ranked as the biggest news story of 2012.

CBC News has compiled a list of top stories already on the calendar for 2013, and while no apocalypses are planned, it's already shaping up to be quite a newsy year with Obama's upcoming inauguration and major elections taking place all over the world.

Similarly, our Arts & Entertainment unit took a look at what's ahead on the culture scene for 2013.

We'd like to know if there are any stories you're looking forward to this year.

Will you be commemorating any historical moments, like the 50th anniversary of John. F. Kennedy's assassination? Do you plan on following the IAAF World Championships in August? Or are you simply excited about the upcoming birth of the royal baby (or not-so-royal baby?)

Give us your thoughts in the comment section below. What did we miss in our look-ahead for 2013?
