Peter Lougheed: Share your condolences

Peter Lougheed, the former Alberta premier, has died. He died Thursday night in the Calgary hospital that bears his name, at the age of 84.

He is also praised for transforming his Progressive Conservatives, once a backwater provincial party, into a political dynasty.

He clashed notably with opponents along the way, including with then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau over the National Energy Program and patriation of the Constitution in the early 1980s.
