Here at we are beginning a new project and we want you, the members of the CBC Community to be a part of it.

We truly believe that commenting on stories is one of the best and easiest ways for Canadians to join the conversation around the issues that are important to them.  And here on the Community desk we take very seriously our commitment to creating an open and fair-minded environment for those discussions.

That's why we are beginning a systematic review of our commenting guidelines and policies.  We believe CBC commenters are some of the most thoughtful and insightful people online.  We feel now is the time to take a step back and ask ourselves what more we can do to foster the lively and civil discussion and debate of ideas between Canadians online.

This is where you come in.  We want to hear your suggestions.  How can we improve our moderation and provoke more thoughtful discussion?  You can send your ideas to

As part of this process we are also looking for new ways to reward, acknowledge and shine a light on some of the great conversations and ideas that are being contributed to our comments threads.  It's amazing how many high-quality, creative points of view are shared there, and we think that we can do a better job of surfacing those ideas for the larger online audience.  So, if you have any ideas around this, you can send them to the same address,

We thank you for your contributions to the CBC Community. Here at the Community desk we hope that you continue to find is the best place for you to talk about the issues and ideas that are important to Canadians everywhere.
