Steven Blaney to share news on 'Canada's strong borders' during Montreal appearance

The holidays may be over, but the political calendar has yet to fill up, at least as far as the first Monday back following the Christmas-to-New-Year break.

In fact, according to the nightly bulletin put out by the Prime Minister's Office, there's just one item of official ministerial business on the agenda: a mid-morning appearance by Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney, who will make his way to Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport in Montreal to deliver an announcement related to "Canada's strong borders."

As yet, neither the New Democrats nor the Liberals have revealed any plans to make their respective party leaders available to the public or the media in the immediate future, although that could, of course, change as the day goes on.

Back in the precinct, meanwhile, the midwinter hiatus continues.

For up to the minute dispatches from the precinct and beyond, keep your eye on the Parliament Hill Ticker below -- or, alternatively, bookmark it and check back throughout the day.
