Orders of the Day - PM takes day trip to Sherbrooke as the Easter recess winds down

The PM heads to Sherbrooke, where he's slated to make an announcement alongside Human Resources Minister Diane Finley and Quebec Senator Pierre-Hughes Boisvenu. As is traditional, the advisory betrays no hint of detail on what that announcement will be, but given the supporting cast, it seems a safe bet that it will have something to do with federal support for victims of crime -- perhaps a fulfillment of the 2011 campaign pledge to "provide enhanced EI benefits to parents of murdered or missing children."

Back in Ottawa, Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz hosts a meeting of his provincial and territorial counterparts at the Chateau Chartier Hotel in Gatineau, and RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson inspects the 2012 Musical Ride at the Canadian Police College.

Also on the ministerial circuit today:

  • After making an appearance in Halifax yesterday, Jason Kenney takes his budget-touting message of "Jobs, Growth and Prosperity" to Montreal
  • Minister of State for Science and Technology Gary Goodyear talks "innovation" at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Waterloo-based OpenText Corporation
  • The Peel HIV/AIDS Network gets a boost -- in the form of federal funding -- courtesy of local MP Eve Adams, who will unveil new support for community organizations on behalf of Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq
  • In Edmonton, Public Works and Government Services Minister Rona Ambrose delivers support to local arts organizations on behalf of her colleague, Canadian Heritage Minister James Moore
  • Meanwhile, Moore himself is at the Vancouver Airport, where he will reveal new measures to "improve travel at Canadian airports"
  • Also on the west coast: Maxime Bernier, who will deliver "a business announcement" at The Landing
  • Finally, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty spends a second day in Washington, DC as he attends a G20 finmin gathering on the heels of yesterday's G8 confab

Meanwhile, Interim Liberal Leader Bob Rae continues his trek through Ontario, with visits to Penetanguishene and Barrie.
