A different kind of rookie card

An Ottawa textile artist has created a new kind of trading card perfect for living in the capital: rookie MP cards.

Gabe Thirlwall, who also created a line of MP finger puppets, designed cards for 24 out of the 103 new MPs elected to the House of Commons May 2, 2011.

Now you can collect your own Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Kerry Lynne Findlay or Ted Hsu, with the MP's vital stats listed in French and English on the back.

The collection was making the rounds among the new young NDP MPs just before the House rose in December. The MPs seemed to get a kick out of having their own rookie cards.
