Why stay up for the late-night comedians?

When news broke that Disney was buying Marvel Entertainment, I immediately went online to look for reaction, and I haven't stopped chuckling since.

It got me thinking: in the news business we're well aware of the challenges the internet poses to the news business.  We're told we must publish or air our stories as soon as possible, because with access to the internet, our viewers don't have to wait around for our deadlines.

So what does this mean for the writers on The Daily Show?

I followed the #disneymeetsmarvel hashtag on Twitter and hear dozens of clever ideas for potential new Disney / Marvel collaborations.

What about:
Professor Xavier's Mutant School Musical
The Fantastic Four vs The Seven Dwarves

Then there were some great one-liners.
So will the 'X Men' will now be known as the 'PG Men'?

There were also some great mashups.  Political cartoonist David Donair was quick to the mark with his drawing of the Incredible Mouse.  Then there was Steamboat Wolverine I found  by a Twitter user named Batmonkey.

Thanks for the mention on air, and here, about Steamboat Wolverine. You tagged the picture's name that was running in my head perfectly. Hope the family in Mississauga got to see it.
