Border-crossing TIFF offers global movie slate

For the 2012 edition, the Toronto International Film Festival is showcasing films from 72 countries - the most nations ever in its history. An impressive 146 selections are world premieres, also a new record for the fest.
With its staff of internationally minded programmers fanning out around the globe all year long sniffing out great new films, it's no wonder TIFF is able to offer an internationally diverse lineup. "These are people who know their worlds really well, so if there are strong new films from Kazakhstan or from Serbia or from Sri Lanka, our programmers can find them," says TIFF artistic director Cameron Bailey.
