Camp David, the secretive presidential retreat

G8 leaders to convene at Maryland facility May 18-19, 2012

Last Updated: May 17, 2012

The 2012 G8 summit was originally scheduled to take place in Chicago — but was relocated in part because the city is also hosting the 2012 NATO summit. Instead, representatives from eight industrialized economic powers will convene at Camp David, Md., for their annual meeting.

Camp David is the official country retreat of the president of the United States. For decades, it's been the site of numerous high-level international meetings in addition to presidential family vacations. Use the map below to explore different areas of the retreat and to learn about Camp David's history.
