May 2: At a White House press briefing, U.S. counterterrorism official John Brennan says, "There was a female who was, in fact, in the line of fire that reportedly was used as a shield to shield bin Laden from the incoming fire."

May 3: Reading a statement to reporters, White House press secretary Jay Carney says bin Laden's wife rushed the Navy SEAL, and was shot and not killed.

May 5: An unnamed security official tells Fox News that the terrorist leader could be seen "shoving his wife" at the Navy SEAL who ultimately shot him.
