Though the murky world of offshore finance operates largely out of tropical islands, it's not a realm unto itself. Tax havens piggyback on the financial infrastructure of on-shore countries to set up shell corporations and move money in and out. And Canada's big banks are right there in the thick of it, with 75 subsidiaries between them in jurisdictions considered to be offshore havens.
Here's a map of those entities. Note: This shows subsidiaries only, and so excludes some tax havens where a bank has a branch but not separate corporate entity.
