Farmer who lost iPhone inside cow tops bizarre mobile insurance claims list

A U.K. farmer recently filed an insurance claim to recoup his losses after losing an iPhone inside of a cow who was giving birth. (iStock)You'd be hard pressed in 2012 to find many people who haven't, at one point, lost or damaged their cell phone during moments of absent-mindedness or bad luck.

And in a world where cell phones may outnumber human beings and sometimes cost more than a mortgage payment, it makes sense that the mobile phone insurance companies are starting to thrive.

One of such companies in the UK recently revealed some of the most bizarre actual insurance claims received by agents over the past 12 months.

The list below proves that, thanks to their size and portability, handheld mobile devices can be lost in some of the strangest, most embarrassing, and hilarious ways possible.

Either that, or mobileinsurance.co.uk has some very creative customers. From the company's press release:

• A farmer in Devon claimed his phone had disappeared inside the back end of one of his cows when he'd been using the flashlight on his phone while assisting the cow during calving. The phone later made an appearance, but was damaged.

• A lady in her early 40s from Nottingham claimed that she'd baked her phone into a cake she'd been making for her daughter's birthday. It didn't endure the heat of the oven.

• A lady in her 30s claimed she'd been walking her Cocker Spaniel on a beach in Wales when a seagull swooped down and took her phone from her hand.

• A man in his 30s claimed he'd been filming monkeys from the car window in a Safari Park with his phone when a monkey climbed on the roof and snatched it.

• A couple re-enacting the "I'm King of the World!" scene from Titanic lost their phone over the side of their cruise ship while trying to take a photo of themselves.
