Following our callout for your best dental stories, we received a flood of great submissions. Some were heartfelt and funny, while others were sad and even scary.

We read and appreciated every submission, then selected 9 tales to share with the CBC community.

Many of these stories answer questions that most of us didn't even know we had.

Why would a dentist check a teenager's teeth for spy gadgets?
How does it feel to delay crucial dental work you can't afford?

Our collection of stories and relevant statistics was created to complement CBC Marketplace's investigative piece on Canada's dentists and their practices, Money Where Your Mouth Is, which airs Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
