Unbaby.me replaces baby photos on Facebook with cats, bacon

A new browser add-on replaces photos of your Facebook friends' children with puppies, art, and other decidedly cool images. (Unbaby.me)

We're not saying that a lot of people hate baby photos, but if the popularity of a new Google Chrome extension that hides them is any indication, Facebook users sure are sick of seeing them in their news feed.

Unbaby.me is a "Chrome extension that deletes babies from your news feed permanently - by replacing them with awesome stuff."

It was created to solve the age-old problem of "I don't want to unfriend you, but I don't care to see 50983294329 photos of your child every day."

Users can simply download the Chrome Add-on, install it, refresh their Facebook feed and voila: every single baby photo has turned into something more palatable for the stroller-free set.

Unbaby.me works by identifying suspect posts based on phrases such as "so adorable" and "precious". Users are able to add their own trigger words, such as the name of a particular baby or parent.

The extension's default setting pulls cat photos from Instagram, but users can set it to display any image-based RSS feed that they enjoy, including from NASA's, UBC Botanical Gardens' or Reddit's.

"We just wanted to bring the obvious baby problem to light," Chris Baker, one of service's co-founders, told Mashable. "A Chrome extension seemed like the perfect way to do it.

The extension has already received 28,000 likes on Facebook since it was released Wednesday, which reminds us to caution new parents not to be alarmed if a Facebook friend remarks that your baby looks delicious; they're probably just looking at a sandwich.
