A Canadian man has reportedly bought what may be the largest collection of vintage and modern videogames in history from a Parisian seller.

The eBay listing, with a final sale price of 999999.99 EUR (approximately $1.25 million CDN), includes every game for every Nintendo, Sega and the lesser-known NEC game console - that's a total of more than 7,000 games.

The games are for the Japanese versions of the consoles, with listings for the Nintendo Famicom and Sega Mega Drive instead of the North American versions (the Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Genesis, respectively).

Several portions of the collection - such as the entire library of the Sega Dreamcast and PC Engine - are listed as being in factory-sealed condition.

The owner of the collection spoke to the LA Times via email, and said this is just one of many epic collections of games he's built over the years. The 32-year-old, who called himself Andre, said that this is his largest sale ever.

"What was important was the completion of each full set, every game of all those systems, all complete in box with instructions, or even brand new factory sealed," he told the LA Times.

Among the rarest of gems in the collection are a Kunio-Kun Dodgeball gold-coloured cartridge for the Famicom, of which he believes only eight copies exist, and Go-Net for the Mega Drive, which is supposedly one of two surviving copies.

Andre said that the buyer is from Canada, but he's still waiting to receive the money before calling it a done deal. If not, he'll put it for sale again, either as the massive complete package or separately per console collection.
