The mashup was done by John Boswell, whose "remixes for the soul" rarely fail to stir his fans' emotions.

Remix artists often face backlash from television networkswhen working with copyrighted material, which is why the web was shocked - andrather impressed - to learn that it was actually PBS who commissioned thepiece.

"When we discovered video mash-up artist John D. Boswell, aka melodysheep, on YouTube, we immediately wanted to work together," PBS Digital Studios wrote in the video's description on YouTube.

"Turns out that he is a huge Mister Rogers Neighborhood fan, and was thrilled at the chance to pay tribute to one of our heroes. Both PBS and the Fred Rogers Company hope you like John's celebration of Fred Rogers' message."

The network hasn't announced which network icon will appear infuture videos, but has confirmed that this will be the first of many.
