Cupcake fanatics in Los Angeles will be able to buy Sprinkles cupcakes from this dispenser 24 hours a day. (sprinkles.com)For anyone who's suffered the indignity of a cupcake craving with nary a box of cake mix in sight, Sprinkles has just the thing for you.

The California bakery has installed what it calls the world's first 24-hour cupcake dispensing machine designed to look like an ATM.

According to Los Angeles' local CBS News station, customers use it just like any other ATM machine on the street: insert your credit card and choose your options on the screen. But instead of cash or banking options, the machine dispenses cupcakes.

Sprinkles will load the machine with fresh cupcakes in eight flavours every few hours. Each cupcake comes individually wrapped in its own box to avoid any damage to the icing.

The machine will also offer Sprinkles-branded merchandise, cupcake mix and dog treats.

Sprinkles has already launched a Facebook fan page specifically dedicated to the cupcake ATM, as well as its own Twitter handle.
