Few things seem lovelier than locking lips with the one you love - but six couples in Pattaya, Thailand are taking the art of the kiss to a new (and rather uncomfortable) level.

The couples are facing off to break the Guinness World Record for the world's longest continuous kiss, which is currently pegged at 46 hours, 24 minutes, and nine seconds.

The contestants began kissing on Feb. 12, and are determined to make it to Valentine's Day despite the inevitable dry mouths and sore necks.

They are required to stay pressed together within the confines of a 1-meter boundary - even during bathroom breaks - for the duration of the kiss.

Their stamina is partly inspired by a diamond ring and holiday getaway that will be granted to the winners. Organizers also keep them going by periodically offering water, administered through a straw.

One of the competing couples has gone the distance before, as Akekachai Tiranarat and his wife Raksana Taranarat set the previous record in 2011.

Do you think you'd have a fighting chance in this kind of kissing competition? Do you think it could be a bonding experience?
