Would you buy a 'ski-thru' coffee?

At Squaw Valley resort in Blue Canyon, California, skiers and snowboarders can now get their hot drinks at the world's first "ski-in/ski-out" Starbucks Coffee shop.

The Starbucks is built on the ski hill, about 2,400 metres up the mountain. Customers can order a drink, slide down to the receiving window and pick up their order without taking off their skis or any other equipment.

"Nowhere else in the world can skiers and riders enjoy a delicious Starbucks coffee without missing a beat on the slopes," said Andy Wirth, Squaw Valley's president and CEO.

The idea sprung from base jumper J.T. Holmes, who went out skiing with the resort's owner one morning while holding a cup of coffee, according to CBS News.

The store includes an indoor seating area for the old-fashioned types who would rather sit down for their afternoon coffee.

No word yet on whether the resort plans to install cup holders on the lifts.
